Right-hander Braden Nett turned in his first quality start of the season, pacing Double-A San Antonio’s 11-3 win at Amarillo on Thursday.

Nett, 22, struck out eight and allowed three runs on five hits in six innings, tied for his longest start of the season. He also didn’t walk a batter for the first time this season.

An undrafted free agent who is ranked No. 9 in the system by MLB.com, Nett is 4-3 with a 3.99 ERA, 59 strikeouts and a 1.37 WHIP across 49⅔ innings with the Missions.

Right-handers Jose Geraldo (2.84 ERA), Andrew Moore (3.86 ERA) and Sam Whiting (6.65 ERA) all turned in a scoreless inning.

Catcher Brandon Valenzuela (.803 OPS) went 2-for-5 with his eighth homer and three RBIs.

Right fielder Ripken Reyes (.688 OPS) drove in three runs on three hits, including two triples.

Center fielder Nerwilian Cedeno (.580 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

First baseman Romeo Sanabria (.800 OPS) went 1-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

San Antonio is 33-27.

Round Rock 12, Chihuahuas 3: LHP Omar Cruz (0-3, 3.82 ERA) allowed four runs on three hits and two walks in five innings in the start. RHP Eduarniel Nuñez (0.00 ERA) struck out two and walked a batter in 1⅓ scoreless innings in his El Paso debut. SS Clay Dungan (.749 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a walk.

 

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (29-31)

South Bend 10, TinCaps 1: RHP Miguel Mendez (2-2, 2.42 ERA) struck out six and allowed a run in four innings in the start. DH Leo De Vries (.772 OPS) went 0-for-3. C Oswaldo Linares (.586 OPS) went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

 

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (29-31)

Storm 5, Visalia 2: LHP Boston Bateman (5-3, 3.72 ERA) struck out four and allowed two runs on seven hits in 5 ⅔ innings in the win. CF Chase Valentine (.498 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his first homer. C Lamar King Jr. (.779 OPS) went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base. 2B B.Y. Choi (.637 OPS) went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

 

ROOKIE ACL PADRES (8-22)

Rockies 12, Padres 3: DH Albert Fabian (.833 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. CF Gustavo Marquez (.445 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. C Jesus Castro (.736 OPS) went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a run scored.

 

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (4-3)

Padres 6, Astros 3 (8): C Andres Garza (1.033 OPS) and DH Juan Martinez (.505 OPS) both drove in two runs on their first homers. RHP Dalvin Nuñez (2.00 ERA) struck out four and allowed a run on three hits and two walks in four innings.

 

ROOKIE DSL GOLD (4-4)

Padres 8, Red Sox 2: RHP Jesus Castro (1-0, 4.05 ERA) struck out four over five no-hit innings in relief for the win. 2B Jose Verdugo (1.276 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his first homer, two RBIs, a walk and two runs scored.
