Westwood Elementary students lined up outside their classrooms on Wednesday to applaud and give high-fives to of the Poway Unified Class of 2025 who used to attend their school.
Senior Clap-out celebrations have become a tradition at elementary schools throughout the area as a way to congratulate the graduating class.
Nearly 80 former Westwood Elementary Roadrunners — and soon-to-be high school graduates — gathered at their former Rancho Bernardo campus one last time as a group. (Elizabeth Marie Himchak)
Around 80 former Roadrunners returned for one last walk around the campus. Most were graduating the next day from Rancho Bernardo High School, but other PUSD campuses were represented, including Del Norte, Poway, Mt. Carmel, Westview and Poway to Palomar Middle College.

Following their walk, which many parents of graduates came to witness and photograph, the seniors attended a reunion picnic at the Westwood Club in Rancho Bernardo to reconnect with their peers and former Westwood Elementary teachers.
