Here are some of the best things to do this week in San Diego, from Monday, June 9 to Friday, June 13.

Monday

Rock and roll camp: Turn up the volume to 10: the GXRLS ROCK summer camp is kicking off its 10th year. This weeklong, rock and roll gig teaches girls and non-binary youth ages eight to 17 how to play musical instruments, form a band, write original songs and perform live. All gear is provided, and students are trained by local San Diego artists. There will also be a showcase after the summer camp on June 14 at the Music Box. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through June 13. Tuesday

Jazz concert: A Classic Jazz in Four Hands concert is at 6:30 p.m. June 10 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 424 Via de la Valle. The concert features Stephanie Trick and Paolo Alderighi playing together on one piano. The duo will perform jazz classics, boogie-woogie and show tunes. A camera focused on the piano from above will allow the audience to see how the couple navigates the keyboard. A courtyard reception follows with free refreshments and a chance to meet the musicians. The event is presented by Concerts at Calvary. ission is free, but donations are appreciated to help cover the cost of the concert and the musicians’ travel. Visit calvarylutheranchurch.org.

‘The Book of Mormon’: Broadway San Diego presents the national touring production of this comedy musical about a pair of bumbling missionaries who get creative when their recruiting efforts in Africa fall flat. 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. Thursday. 8 p.m. Friday; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday; 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. “Jaja’s African Hair Braiding”: La Jolla Playhouse presents this Broadway hit about life, love and marriage in a Harlem hair salon. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Fridsay; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday; 1 and 7 p.m. Sunday. Wednesday

Toyota Summer Concert Series begins: Ziggy Marley, Foreigner, Maxwell and Banda MS are among the first group of performers confirmed for the San Diego County Fair’s 2025 Toyota Summer Concert Series on the Corona Grandstand Stage. Wednesday, +LIVE+ and Collective Soul combine to headline the first show of the series at 7 p.m. Foreigner takes the stage Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Maxwell follows on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The weekend brings concerts from Zedd on Saturday and Los Tigres del Norte on Sunday. sdfair.com/p/what-to-do/grandstand

Free outdoor concert: The La Jolla Music Society’s free outdoor Wu Tsai QRT.yrd Concert series presents a performance by the Sabrosas Latin Orchestra. The nonprofit all-female salsa band performs a variety of Latin styles, including salsa, cumbia, and cha cha. 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. “Waitress”: Moonlight Stage Productions presents this film-based musical about a diner waitress and pie-maker who decides to turn her dead-end life around by entering a baking contest. 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Friday

Nat at Night: The San Diego Natural History Museum stays open until 10 p.m. on during Nat at Night for late-night exploration of the museum. Guests can enjoy rooftop access and can purchase food and drinks from various local vendors. ission is also half-off. Nat at Night runs weekly on Fridays during the summer. 5 to 10 p.m. Friday. History lectures: LIFE, MiraCosta College’s Learning is for Everyone group, holds free lectures June 13. At 1 p.m., Doug Green will present “A Lesson in Journalism” about how a group of students discovers the horror of the Holocaust and produces a groundbreaking film. At 2:30 p.m., Barbara Mortkowitz will give a lecture, “Neil Simon: Observing It All,” about “one of the most successful playwrights in the history of American Theatre.” The lectures are in the Oceanside Campus istration Building, 1 Barnard Drive. Fiber Fest: This free event for all ages celebrates natural textiles and sustainability and brings together fiber artists, artisans, sustainability advocates and local farmers. The event shows the process of making natural textiles from sheep to finished fabric. There will be live demonstrations, artist vendors, workshops and interactive crafts. There is a Sit & Stitch and Fiber & Fabric Swap from 6 to 8 p.m. June 13 and fiber arts workshops all day June 15. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Kids in the Garden class: A Kids in the Garden class on Soil, Composting & Planting is offered this weekend. The group will plant some seeds for summer crops. Bring plant-based kitchen garbage in a container to add to the compost. Adults stay with their kids. The class fee is $5 per person, which includes garden entry; free for garden . Country night: For those who want or need a new cowboy, rancher or trucker hat, Harrah’s Resort Southern California is hosting Rancher Hat Bar’s pop-up event. This shop will be selling various hats that customers can customize. Trucker hats are available for $45 and include one large patch and three small patches. Cowboy and Rancher hats will cost $90 and include two bands and a choice of a feather, card or matchbook pin. Escondido Bead & Design Show: This weekend, artists, artisans, bead-makers, designers and bead merchants will gather for a shopping event featuring handmade jewelry, artisan clothing, beads, gemstones, vintage finds, and artistic accessories. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
