Miaomaio Dong, a first-grader at Park Village Elementary in Rancho Penasquitos, won a national art contest that promotes wind energy.

Miaomaio was among four students in her grade level selected for recognition. Her submission was titled “Dad and Me Exploring Wind Energy.”

The 2025 National Wind Energy Art Challenge for students in kindergarten through eighth grade was sponsored by the KidWind Project. Its theme was “Beautiful Wind Energy” to highlight the importance of wind energy and renewable energy education, according to contest officials.

The winners received a first-place certificate, had their work framed in a plaque and displayed in the World KidWind Challenge space at American Clean Power’s CleanPower 2025 Conference held May 18-21 in Phoenix.
