A 62-year-old man has died, and San Diego police say his younger sister has been interviewed by investigators after she reportedly struck him with a stick at a Grantville apartment last week.
Someone called police just before 9 p.m. Thursday to report a disturbance inside an apartment in a complex on Rancho Mission Road south of Friars Road, San Diego police homicide Lt. Lou Maggi said in a news release.
A half-hour later, a caller told police a 59-year-old woman was beating her brother with a stick, Maggi said. The reported violence elevated the priority of the call, and officers were dispatched immediately, he said.
Police arrived within eight minutes and found Michael Loo down in the living room area. He had no obvious life-threatening signs of trauma, but it appeared there had been a violent struggle in the apartment, Maggi said.
Officers and medics rendered medical aid to Loo, but he died, Maggi said. Maggi said investigators and the Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the man’s cause of death.
The man’s sister, whose name was not released, left before officers arrived, Maggi said. She was later located and interviewed by investigators. The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call homicide investigators at 619-531-2293. Anonymous tips can be left by calling Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or online at sdcrimestoppers.org.
