
Neighborhoods on the San Diego-Poway border were under evacuation warning due to a brush fire, sheriff’s officials said.
The blaze ignited around 5:15 p.m. Saturday off Springhurst Drive in the Sabre Springs area, burning in brush near Cobblestone Creek Road in Poway, sheriff’s officials said. Crews were able to stop the forward spread of the fire around 6:30 p.m., according to San Diego fire officials.
The blaze was pegged at around 5 acres as of 6 p.m., with structures in the area threatened.
An evacuation site was set up at a shopping center off Pomerado and Poway roads.
Fire crews on the ground were being aided by aircraft.
