The Winston School recently welcomed local colleges, employers, and community organizations to its campus May 1 for the 2nd Annual College and Career Fair, providing students in grades 6–12 with hands-on exposure to post-secondary pathways tailored to their individual strengths and aspirations, according to a news release.

The College and Career Fair, held on the school’s Del Mar campus, served as a vibrant hub of exploration and learning for students with learning differences. Attendees explored a wide range of career paths through hands-on interactions with industry professionals.

Highlights included environmental scientists from California Fish & Wildlife, crime prevention specialists with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, and culinary arts faculty from Mesa College. Each booth offered unique insights and practical demonstrations tailored to their field.

“At Winston, we believe every student deserves a future filled with possibility,” said Kim Kanetis, executive director of The Winston School, in the news release. “This fair is a powerful example of how collaboration with our community can open doors, build confidence, and inspire students to pursue paths that reflect their unique talents. As we continue to grow and reimagine our campus, we’re committed to creating spaces and experiences that benefit both our students and the broader community.”

The event, organized by College & Career Readiness Transition Coordinator Ashley Pallisco, was met with enthusiastic participation and overwhelmingly positive from students, staff, and participating partners. Many attendees highlighted how the fair not only expanded students’ awareness of career options but also boosted their confidence and ignited excitement about life after graduation.

The Winston School has a broader commitment to student preparedness and community engagement, aligning with its $5.5 million campus renovation campaign. Planned improvements include modernized classrooms, dedicated spaces for student services, upgraded technology infrastructure, enhanced outdoor learning environments, and new areas for creative and recreational activities, the news release stated.
