The Village Garden Club of La Jolla recently celebrated its 50th year anniversary. It has 340 mainly from La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe. Every year the garden club invites only on a home tour.

This year the tour was held on May 1 and RSF residents Susan Hoehn’s estate, Sheryl Durkin’s home and Maureen McMahon’s homes were included on the tour. (Photos on this page are from the tour of Hoehn’s RSF estate.) The tour is always inspiring for gardeners and a wonder to see all the special effects the gardens hold.

The garden club holds once-a-month meetings with fascinating speakers and sponsors workshops and field trips. The club also s Wreaths Across America, maintains the rose garden at the Mount Soledad Cross, gives grants and volunteers for school yard gardens benefiting San Diego School districts in underserved neighborhoods.

Club have also embellished the streets of San Diego by donating and planting hundreds of trees through their Commemorative Tree Project. They also create lovely tray favors honoring Veterans Hospital patients and take up collections for Pennies for Pines.Visit www.vgclj.com for more information.
