Man fatally shot in El Cajon park identified, second shooting in area reported

Deandre Jarrail Bryant, 46, was shot and killed after getting into an altercation with another man at Wells Park Sunday night

UPDATED:

A 46-year-old man killed in a shooting at Wells Park in El Cajon earlier this week was identified Thursday by police.

Deandre Jarrail Bryant was fatally shot around 9:45 p.m. Sunday on East Madison Avenue near North First Street, El Cajon police Lt. Eric Thornton said. Officers found Bryant in a parking lot at the park suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a hospital where he died.

It remained unclear Thursday what led up to the shooting. Investigators previously said there was an altercation between Bryant and another man, in which the unnamed man pulled out a gun and fired.

The gunman then got into a vehicle and fled before officers arrived.

A second shooting at the same park was reported Wednesday night. No one was injured, and the shooter is not in custody, Thornton said.

The investigation into both shootings remains ongoing. It is not known if the shootings are related.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the shootings to the police department at 619-579-3311.
