A man was stabbed to death in El Cajon early Tuesday, and police are searching for the suspected assailant.
Multiple people called 911 just after 2:40 a.m. to report a stabbing on West Cypress Avenue just west of Magnolia Avenue, police said in a news release Tuesday.
Officers arrived to find a man on a sidewalk suffering from an apparent stab wound, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. Police said the victim is an El Cajon resident but withheld further information until his family is notified of his death.
Department officials said the initial investigation revealed the victim and the suspect knew each other.
“At this time, the suspect has not been located and remains outstanding,” the department said Tuesday.
A department spokesperson said the suspect is a man, but his address was unknown.
