Agricultural celebration at Flower Fields
An agricultural celebration, Graze at the Fields, will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 24 at the Carlsbad Flower Fields. The event features food and drink among the flowers and a chance to talk with local farmers, vintners, brewers and chefs. The event is hosted by the San Diego County Farm Bureau, a nonprofit ing the more than 4,000 farms in San Diego County. High school puts on Arts Expo
Escondido Union High School District will put on a Visual and Performing Arts Showcase as part of its Arts Expo from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 27 at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Wildflower Show planned for May
The Julian Woman’s Club will host the 99th annual Wildflower Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 2-3 in the Woman’s Clubhouse, 2607 C St. The show features wildflowers from seven regions in and around Julian. Samples of various flowering species that grow in the area will be displayed, such as cactus flowers from the high desert, lupine from Cuyamaca and vetch from Pine Hills. The Clubhouse will also display artwork from local students. African American women’s group offers scholarships
The North County African American Women’s Association and North Island Credit Union are partnering to offer scholarships and financial literacy programming to college-bound female students of African American descent in North County. Four $2,500 NCAAWA/North Island Credit Union scholarships are offered for graduating high school seniors, current ROP, trade school, college and/or graduate students in Carlsbad, Escondido, Fallbrook, Oceanside, San Dieguito, San Marcos and Vista. Special consideration will be given to students pursuing degrees in education. In addition to the North Island Credit Union scholarships, NCAAWA is providing scholarship programs to qualified North County students. Online applications will be accepted through March 31. Garden walking tour

TrueCare, a nonprofit community health center, opened a dental clinic at their Vista Way Health Center, 3998 Vista Way. The facility will replace TrueCare’s Oceanside dental office on El Camino Real and includes 13 exam rooms. Free Virtual Screening of The Six Triple Eight
The Foundation for Women Warriors hosts a free virtual screening of The Six Triple Eight from 4 to 5 p.m. March 26. The documentary tells the story of the women of the 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion, known as the Six Triple Eight, which served in Europe during World War II. Despite confronting racism and sexism from their own leadership and troops, the Black female battalion succeeded in clearing a backlog of over 17 million pieces of mail and kept troops in touch with their loved ones back home. Kitten shower at animal shelter
The San Diego Humane Society hosts a virtual Kitten Shower for community to donate essential supplies, such as kitten formula, bottles, heating pads, scales and blankets, through online registries at Amazon, Target and Walmart. Monetary donations will be doubled up to $20,000 thanks to a match from the William Hall Tippett and Ruth Rathell Tippett Foundation. Kickoff event for EndurANT Movement to address mental health
A community event on will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. March 24 at 645 E. Solana Circle and online from 6 to 7 p.m. to learn about the EndurANT Movement, a nonprofit based in Cardiff-by the Sea that helps people facing grief, neurodiversity and mental health challenges. EndurANT Movement was founded by Neal and Samara Tricarico after the loss of their 16-year-old son, Anthony, aka, “Ant”. The event is talking place on the one year anniversary of Anthony’s suicide. The event will offer background and an overview of the EndurANT Movement, the resources being offered, including the podcast/show, events and webinars focused on grief, growth, and transformation.
