The Friends of the 4S Ranch Library board has had a change of leadership with the installation of Margi Schmidt as president following the five-year tenure of May Lin.

Lin will still be involved as the 2025 board’s vice president.

“May Lin has done an amazing job,” said the board’s publicity chair, Abigail Velazquez. “(She) has been an invaluable asset to the 4S Ranch Friends of the Library, serving as president from 2019-2024.

“During her tenure, she has been a tireless advocate for the expansion of the 4S Ranch Library, working diligently to bring this much-needed improvement to the community,” Velazquez said. “She has also served as the public face of the Friends … representing the organization with distinction in the greater community and within the San Diego County Friends of the Library network.

“Beyond her advocacy and public representation, May Lin has provided exceptional leadership and within the organization,” Velazquez said, adding that Lin has made being in the Friends “a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved.”

Velazquez said Schmidt has been on the board for more than five years, led its online sales, served as vice president and been involved with the Friends’ Book Nook sales.

“We couldn’t ask for a better leadership with May and Margi continuing to team up in of the library’s programs and the library’s expansion project,” Velazquez said.
