Art Display, “Local Landscapes”—Oct. 5 through Nov. 22

The Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild hosts a new art display, “Local Landscapes.” See it now in the Media Room at the Rancho Santa Fe Library.

Meditation and Mindfulness—Wednesdays in October (No class on Oct. 30.)

Discover simple, effective ways to reduce stress and bring balance and happiness into your life. This special program is limited to 20 participants and advance is required. Call the library at (858) 756-2512, or stop by to for your Wednesday sessions, which start at 10 a.m.

Rancho Santa Fe Book Cellar Half-Off Sale—Oct. 4 and 5

Stop by the Rancho Santa Fe Book Cellar, which is right below the library, for its special half-off sale on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5. All books, DVDs and CDs are on sale. And, for of The Library Guild of Rancho Santa Fe, there will be a sale preview night on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Great Decisions—Oct. 7

At 10:15 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, come to the library for a discussion about “Understanding Indonesia.” The content comes from the Great Decisions Briefing Book, a publication of the Foreign Policy Association. You can pick up a copy at the library to read in advance of the meeting.

Writers Group—Oct. 9

This is a group for all skill levels, from beginners to published writers. Come to the library to discuss the creative process, the mechanics of craft, and happenings in the publishing world. It meets the second Wednesday of each month, at 12:30 p.m.

Book Club—Oct. 11

your friends and neighbors for a lively discussion of a different book each month. For October, the book is Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. The meeting is at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, and you can check out the book from the library or a copy from the Libby application.

Watercolor Classes for Families—Oct. 19 and 26

Release your inner creativity and learn how to paint with watercolor! the class on Saturdays, Oct. 19 and 26, at 10:30 a.m. You will be instructed by beloved local artist and teacher Margot Wallace. The Gigantic Pumpkin Puppet Show—Oct. 22 and 23

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 22 and 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., your friends at the library for a special puppet show and storytime featuring “The Gigantic Pumpkin.” See fun characters work together to pull a giant pumpkin from the patch in this delightful fall-themed story.

Coffee & Conversation, San Diego Archeological Center—Oct. 24

People have lived in San Diego for over 12,000 years. And more than 40,000 recorded archaeological sites have been discovered in the county. Artifacts provide a window to the past, including what people ate, how they hunted, and how they lived. your neighbors at the library on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m. to noon, to learn about the unique archeology of your hometown.

Baby Halloween Costume Party—Oct. 31

Participants in the library’s Baby Storytime class (ages 0-18 months) are invited to a special Halloween-themed event on Thursday, Oct. 31, from noon to 1 p.m. The event features a fun costume party and holiday treats.

Chair Yoga—Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.

Sign up is required as space is limited to 20 people.

American Flag Drop Off

If it’s time to retire your American Flag, please drop it off at the library. There is a drop box and your flag will be treated with respect.

Battery Drop Off at Library

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a safe place to dispose of small batteries, including A, AA, AAA, C, lithium (with taped covered ends), cell phone and other small batteries. Do your part to stop pollution by bringing this toxic trash to the library. The drop-off program is in partnership with Universal Waste.

Seeds and Sustainability

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a seed library too! Come by to pick up two free seed varieties that you can take home and plant.
