The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary held its 58th annual Women of Dedication Luncheon last month at the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina.

The event honored 12 dynamic women from throughout San Diego County for their dedication to the community through volunteerism and service.

The 2024 honorees are: Elaine Becerra, Christine Cremidan, Lisette Farrell, Jennie Hamilton, Connie Matsui, Barbara Rand Metzler, Merrilee Neal, Coreen Petti, Fran Shimp, Julia Ramirez Stone, Lee Wills-Irvine and Caroline Wohl.

Bryan Verhoye created music and lyrics especially for the honorees. MacKenzie Cartmill and The San Diego Master Chorale provided musical performances.

Rosalie Gerevas and Carol Sciotto co-chaired the luncheon. Louarn and Alan Sorkin were honorary chairs.

More than 750 people attended.

Founded in the 1950s, the auxiliary s The Salvation Army’s social service programs through fundraising, donations, and volunteer efforts. The Salvation Army’s social service programs are primarily ed through contributions from individuals, businesses, and family foundations, with 82 percent of every dollar raised going directly to the local programs, the organization said.
