Re “Rosarito Beach resident says Northern Baja California is at a breaking point” (May 10): If the letter writer considers Mexico to be so dangerous, why live in Rosarito Beach?

If Mexico is so dangerous, why is Mexico the No. 1 country for expats with 1.6 million Americans living there?

Why is Mexico the sixth most popular tourist destination in the world?

The recent senseless murders are horrific, however, so are the 21 murders in San Diego in 2023 and the 11 murders in San Diego in 2024, so far.

There were 21,156 murders in the U.S. last year, which, positive news, is anticipated to decline to 18,450 this year. There were 630 mass shootings last year, almost two mass shootings a day.

Why does the author use scare tactics without including the facts? What is the benefit?
