The San Diego Mojo will be one of four participants in the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation playoffs set for May 15 and 18 in Omaha.
The team secured a playoff spot with Tuesday’s four-set victory over the Columbus Fury at Viejas Arena, and clinched a No. 3 seed with Thursday night’s 3-2 (23-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 15-6) win over the Valkyries in Orlando. Lindsey Vander Weide led the way with 27 kills. Temi Thomas-Ailara added 14.
The Mojo began their inaugural season by losing five of their first six matches. Since then, they’ve won 11 of 17.
At 12-11, the Mojo have a winning record for the first time all season. They’re seeded third in the PVF playoffs behind the top-seeded Atlanta Vibe (19-5) and second-seeded Omaha Supernovas (15-7). The Grand Rapids Rise (11-12) are slotted in at No. 4. San Diego will play one final regular-season game Saturday afternoon in Columbus before the playoffs begin.
The PVF champions will receive a $1 million bonus to split among players.
All Mojo matches stream on the league’s YouTube channel and the PVF semifinal and final matches will air live on CBS Sports Network.
