CHALK ART CONTEST — The Rancho Bernardo Community Council will host its 14th annual Chalk It Up sidewalk chalk art contest from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in Rancho Bernardo Community Park, 18448 W. Bernardo Drive. All ages, from preschoolers to seniors, are welcome to enter the free contest. A bucket of chalk will be provided to entrants, who are also welcome to bring their own chalk. Upon returning the bucket, entrants will receive a gift and refreshments. Prizes will be awarded in various age categories. For questions, email @rbcommunitycouncil.com.

FREE FOOD — LifeBridge Church will offer a food distribution from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4 in its lower parking lot, 17645 W. Bernardo Drive in Rancho Bernardo. The food is provided by Buckheart Ranch, an agency of the San Diego Food Bank. Typically, foods include boxed and canned goods, as well as fresh produce. This is held monthly on the first Saturday. FOOD DRIVE — Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church is holding a drive-thru food drive from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4 in its upper parking lot, 17010 Pomerado Road. Donations will be given to 4 Community Care food pantry to help families and seniors dealing with food insecurity and living within the Poway Unified boundaries. Each month over 800 families receive assistance. Needed items include boxed cereals; oatmeal; pasta; sweet and/or salty snacks; canned vegetables, fruits, meats, meals and soups; plastic jars of pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly. To donate money, write checks to “4 Community Care.”

GARDEN TOUR — The Bernardo Gardeners Club will feature seven gardens during its annual spring garden tour from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4. It will be held rain or shine.
