UPDATED:

Union Kitchen & Tap is participating in this year’s inaugural San Diego Cocktail Championship, a competition between 21 San Diego County restaurants and bars that runs through Sunday, April 28.

The Encinitas eatery’s entree is the Bad Moon Rising with cucumber-and-serrano-pepper-infused Milagro Blanco Tequila, fresh lime juice, agave, tajin and celery bitters.

Most of the participants in the contest are located downtown with just Del Mar’s Monarch Ocean Pub and Union representing the North County contingent.

The month-long contest will be topped off with the Cocktail Championship block party on April 28 on the Gaslamp Quarter’s 5th Avenue, where guests will sample and vote for their favorite cocktail. Those unable to attend the event can still visit Union on their own through April 28 and vote online at cocktailchampionship.com/contest.

All voters are automatically ed to win $2,100 worth of gift cards – $100 from each of the 21 restaurants and bars. Patrons making on-site visits can also cast their votes on Instagram by posting a photo with tags of @unionkitchentap, along with @cocktailchampionship.
