The Poway Chamber of Commerce invites job seekers and community to a Business Expo & Hiring Event set for Tuesday, March 19.
The free event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Oak Hall East room of the Mickey Cafagna Community Center, 13094 Civic Center Drive.
Businesses that are actively hiring and those that just want to share information about their operations plan to participate, said Poway Chamber of Commerce President Mike Leland.
“Originally we called it a Career Fair, but we changed it to a Hiring Event to differentiate it between hiring and careers,” Leland said. “People could get hired on the spot.”
Leland said space will be available on the community center’s patio for business participants to interview job applicants. Attendees who are looking for a job are encouraged to bring a resume, he said.
Participants cover a wide range of industries, including financial services, insurance, investment, health care, child care and senior services, Leland said. Some of the larger attendees are expected to include the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and El Camino Memorial Park, he added.
The hiring outlook is promising in the hospitality sector, senior services and with businesses in the South Poway Business Park, Leland said.
