
Monday’s unexpectedly powerful storm set new rainfall records for Jan. 22 in eight San Diego County cities, the National Weather Service said.
The agency also said San Diego experienced the fourth wettest day since record-keeping began in 1850, and that Monday was the wettest January day on record.

New records for Jan. 22:
San Diego International Airport: The 2.73 inches that fell broke the previous record of 1.53 inches, set in 1967.
Oceanside Harbor: The 2.10 inches that fell broke the record of 0.98 inches, set in 2010.
Vista: The 1.83 inches that fell broke the record of 1.08 inches, set in 2010.
Chula Vista: The 1.56 inches that fell broke the record of 1.15 inches, set 2010.
Ramona: The 1.65 inches that fell broke the record of 1.18 inches, set in 2017.
Alpine: The 2.57 inches that fell broke the record of 0.85 inches, set in 1996.
El Cajon: The 2.98 inches that fell broke the record of 2.48 inches, set in 1909.
Campo: The 3.22 inches that fell broke the record of 1.68 inches, set in 2010.
