A variety of events are happening at the Rancho Santa Fe Library. Read on for details.

Fix-It Clinic—Nov. 4

Bring anything to the library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, and get it fixed for free! Toasters, light fixtures, clothes, bikes, coffee makers and toys. All supplies are provided.

New Writers Group—Nov. 8

The Rancho Santa Fe Library hosts a writers group. It meets the second Wednesday of each month from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the next meeting is on Nov. 8. This group is suitable for novices and advanced writers who wish to meet and discuss the creative process, the mechanics of craft, agent representation, and happenings in the publishing world.

Active Military and Veterans —Nov. 9

Come to the library on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to hear from active-duty military and veterans as they share their experiences. Local author and former teacher Harriet Joslyn will talk about her work in the Honor Flight program, and the San Diego Office of Military and Veterans Services will host an information table. Light refreshments will be served.

Coffee & Conversation—Memory Issues for Seniors, Nov. 16

On Thursday, Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to noon, Poway Gardens Senior Living personnel will talk about signs of memory issues with loved ones.

Local Author Launch Party—Nov. 16

Dare Delano, winner of the San Diego Book Award, will appear at Rancho Santa Fe Library on Thursday, Nov. 16. Her new novel, Abilene, is the small-town tale of three unique and powerful women who discover poignant emotional truths. your neighbors to celebrate at this special book launch party from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be a book g and Q&A, along with Abilene-themed food and drinks. This event is free and open to the public.

Flower Arranging—Nov. 17

Just in time for the holidays, learn how to make your own flower arrangements. This special session is on Friday, Nov. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Space is limited, so please sign up at the library or call to reserve your spot, 858-756-2512.

Rancho Santa Fe Library Book Club—Nov. 17

You can check out a copy at the library or it using the Libby application, so you’ll be ready for the next meeting of the Rancho Santa Fe Library Book Club. The book is The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee and the meeting is Friday, Nov. 17 at 1:30 p.m.

“Autumn Colors” Fall Art Showcase

The Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild features this colorful exhibition at the Rancho Santa Fe Library until Nov. 17. Stop by any time from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and visit the library’s media room. You will be dazzled by the beautiful fall art on display.

Cover-to-Cover Club—Read Books for Burgers

In partnership with In-N-Out Burger, the Rancho Santa Library presents the Cover-to-Cover Club. Read 300 minutes or five books and you will receive a gift card for a free burger. This program is for kids ages 4 to 12 and runs until Nov. 18. Sign up at the library today!

American Flag Drop Off

If it’s time to retire your American Flag, please drop it off at the library. There is a drop box and your flag will be treated with respect.

Food Donation Drop Off

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a drop-off location for the San Diego Food Bank. Dry goods, canned goods and non-perishable items are accepted in the red bin outside of the library.

Battery Drop Off at Library

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a safe place to dispose of small batteries, including A, AA, AAA, C, lithium (with taped covered ends), cell phone and other small batteries. Do your part to stop pollution by bringing this toxic trash to the library. The drop-off program is in partnership with Universal Waste.

Seeds and Sustainability

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a seed library too! Come by to pick up two free seed varieties that you can take home and plant.

Chair Yoga—Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 to 11 a.m.

Sign up required as space is limited to 20 people.

For Children and Tweens—Halloween Fun and Updated Schedule

On Tuesday October 31, come to the library at 10:30 a.m. for plenty of activities for the kiddies including costumes, stories and treats.

Mondays: Game Day at 3 p.m.

Tuesdays: Preschool Storytime at 10:30 a.m. (on 10/24, no storytime, but special puppet show), and STEAM at 2:30 p.m.

Wednesdays: Toddler Storytime at 10:30 a.m. (on 10/25, no storytime, but special puppet show), Tween Time at 3 p.m.

Thursdays: Crafts at 2:15 p.m.

Fridays: Movies at 2:15 p.m.

Saturdays: Chess Club at 11 a.m., Family Yoga at 10:30 a.m.

Volunteers Needed—Rancho Santa Fe Book Cellar

The Book Cellar, a nonprofit used bookstore located under the Rancho Santa Fe Library, is in need of volunteers. They need cashiers, people to help sort books and help with ecommerce sales and more. The Book Cellar is part of the Library Guild of Rancho Santa Fe and 100% of its profits fund the library and its programs.
