Knowledge is power and the greatest asset you can acquire in order to compete for a fantasy football championship.
Here’s your 2023 preview of the Green Bay Packers, the 31st of 32 team profiles during draft season:
2023 Fantasy MVP: Aaron Jones, RB
Jones (ADP: 40) has finished as the overall RB2, RB5, RB11 and RB9 in PPR the last four seasons — the last two while operating in a committee with AJ Dillon where he rarely gets 20 touches and Dillon sees the majority of goal-line work. Draft him in the third or fourth round as an RB2 with RB1 upside and take advantage of those who are fading him because he’s about to turn 29.
2023 Fantasy Sleeper: AJ Dillon, RB
Dillon (ADP: 83) turned 25 in May, so there’s still a chance we haven’t seen his best work yet. He’s currently being drafted as the RB35 despite finishing as the overall RB23 and RB26 the last two seasons while splitting time with Jones. If Jones does begin to decline, it will be Dillon who benefits, but the Packers will need both of them now more than ever if they have any hope of executing another successful transition between quarterbacks.
2023 Fantasy Bust: Christian Watson, WR
Watson (ADP: 57) was the overall WR4 in standard formats (WR9 in PPR) the final nine weeks of 2022, but I don’t feel like I’m going out on a limb to say even if Jordan Love is good, he won’t be as good as Aaron Rodgers, at least not this season. Watson could offset the downgrade at QB and any scoring regression with more volume, but I don’t believe it’s a guarantee he automatically dominates target share on this team.
2023 Fantasy Rookie to watch: Jayden Reed, WR
A three-year starter at Michigan State, Reed (ADP: 209) was one of the more productive playmakers to get drafted in 2023. He ed and ran for a TD, made 26 TD receptions and returned three punts to the house in his collegiate career. Reed is starting in the slot from day one, where his route running and physicality could help him thrive.
