Knowledge is power and the greatest asset you can acquire in order to compete for a fantasy football championship.
Here’s your 2023 preview of the New York Giants, the 14th of 32 team profiles during draft season:
2023 Fantasy MVP: Darren Waller, TE
Waller’s (ADP: 55) Per 17 Games averages since 2019 is 92 receptions, 1,110 yards and six touchdowns. Injuries have cost him most of the last two seasons, but he’s one of the few options at tight end who has a legitimate chance to lead his team in targets.
2023 Fantasy Sleeper: Daniel Jones, QB
New coach Brian Daboll worked his magic with Jones (ADP: 114) last season. He took major steps forward with his ing ability, significantly limiting his turnovers, but the revelation came via his legs. Only Justin Fields, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen had more rushing yards at the position, which led to a QB9 finish. He’s being drafted as a QB14 despite receiving some major weapon upgrades and having another offseason in Daboll’s offense. There may be another leap coming.
2023 Fantasy Bust: Saquon Barkley, RB
Barkley (ADP: 10) finished his comeback season as the overall RB6 in standard formats (RB5 in PPR) in 2022, but there were some signs his heavy workload took its toll down the stretch. Barkley was the overall RB3 across most formats Weeks 1-10, but only the RB13 in standard formats (RB10 in PPR) his final seven games. He averaged 4.7 yards per carry the first 10 weeks of the season, but only managed 3.9 yards per carry the rest of the way. There’s a chance he doesn’t pay off his top-five price tag.
2023 Fantasy Rookie to watch: Jalin Hyatt, WR
Hyatt (ADP: 154) emerged as the premier deep threat in college football after exploding for 207 yards and five touchdowns (!) against Alabama last October. The 2022 Biletnikoff Award winner is track and field fast. I only have two questions: Why didn’t he produce at this level his previous two seasons with Tennessee, and can he produce on the perimeter — where he will face press coverage much more often — since he primarily ran most of his routes out of the slot?
