ClickUp, the local software startup that ballooned into a $1 billion company during the pandemic, has expanded into an East Village office tower directly across from Petco Park.
The building, called DiamondView, will soon bear ClickUp’s name, as the lease includes signage rights for the tech company.
ClickUp makes productivity and collaboration software for businesses, which came in handy during 2020’s remote work revolution. The startup doubled its workforce last year, currently employing over 300 people. A company spokesperson said ClickUp could reach 400 staffers within the next 12 months.
This is probably not the first time you’ve heard of ClickUp. The startup’s name is now plastered on local buses, trains and massive ments hung at shopping malls.
The tech company, founded in 2017, hit unicorn status in 2020 when it raised $100 million at a $1 billion valuation. Now, it’s needing more space.
The startup will occupy two floors of the building on 350 Tenth Ave. for nearly 36,500 square feet of office space. The floors overlook the Petco Park baseball park, which is fitting considering the startup’s partnership with the San Diego Padres to help power the team’s IT operations.
The office includes a spacious outdoor terrace facing the ballpark, complete with workstations for staffers to work or eat outside.
A company spokesperson said ClickUp is still embracing a hybrid model of work, allowing some home time and some office time for employees. The downtown office will be a gathering place for meetings, events, and collaborative and creative work with teammates.
DiamondView, a property of San Francisco investment firm DivcoWest, is two blocks from the light rail and in the midst of East Village’s mix of residential and retail spaces.
“DiamondView combines expansive, efficient indoor space and tons of natural light with large balconies giving tenants fresh air, fantastic views and room to spread out,” said Sara Buss, managing director at DivcoWest, in a statement. “It’s perfect space for innovative companies looking for modern creative space with the flexibility to grow.”
ClickUp’s team will occupy the space as late as October but is aiming to get into the office by late summer, if possible.
