When the coronavirus pandemic brought San Diego, and much of the world, to a standstill in March 2020, San Diego Union-Tribune photojournalist K.C. Alfred traversed the region capturing the eerie sight of an Empty San Diego.

As California moves toward a full reopening of its economy on June 15, Alfred revisited some of those same spots, to see how the world around us has come back to life.
