Culled from this year’s Top Workplace survey is an array of various job perks employers offer. Here are eight that seem pretty nifty.

  • Dr. Bronner’s has a 5-to-1 compensation ratio, where the highest pay grade is capped at 5 times the lowest pay grade.
  • University & State Employees Credit Union began offering free B-12 injections about four years ago as an addition and/or alternative to the flu shot. The shots are offered on site as a convenience to employees.
  • Erickson-Hall Construction Co., an employee-owned company, began in January 2018 giving employees a paid holiday for their actual birthdays. If the birthday falls on the weekend or a holiday, the employee decides when to take the paid day off.
  • TargetCW has 10 toilets with bidets. Only one at the company is a regular toilet for people who are scared to try the bidets. These are $2,000 Japanese toilets with heated seats, warm water, deodorizer and a blue light sanitizer. The other perk? It saves money on toilet paper, the CEO says.
  • Rivo Holdings Inc.’s management team writes heartfelt messages and signs cards for every birthday and employment anniversary. Employees who have been loyal for numerous years receive personalized watches, laptops or an all-expense paid trip.
  • Smashtech sets company-wide milestones and celebrates each one by going on a company trip to places such as Las Vegas, New York, Cabo and Hawaii. The company covers one guest for each employee. During the trips, it has employees choose meaningful once-in-a-lifetime excursions such as swimming with the sharks, ATVing through Jurassic Park and waterfall tours.
  • ProSciento Inc. offers full- and part-time employees who work more than 20 hours per week three weeks of paid time off in the first year and four weeks after two years of employment.
  • Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego gives a $1,000 a year for tuition reimbursement for anything that furthers professional or personal growth, including sports lessons, yoga, learning foreign languages and entry fees for a marathon or race.
