Sycuan Casino on Thursday will hold the first in a series of job fairs, kicking off a plan to fill 700 new positions for its expanded hotel resort before the March grand opening.
Sycuan is looking to hire across various divisions, including food and beverage, hotel and casino, as it gets ready to debut a new, $247 million 12-story hotel, pool complex, luxury spa, events center, multiple restaurants and added gaming space.
“Many of the job fairs hosted by Sycuan will have hiring managers interviewing applicants (on-site) and making on-the-spot job offers for specific departments,” according to a statement released by Sycuan on Tuesday. “Those interested in attending the job fairs are encouraged to bring copies of their résumé.”
Thursday’s job fair will be held from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the East County Career Center, 924 E. Main St., El Cajon. Additional job fairs hiring events will be held into 2019.
The casino resort’s statement noted the opportunity for career advancement by quoting its general manager, John Dinius, who started at Sycuan in 1993 as a Bingo Pull Tabs Clerk and worked his way up to the top job.
Among the benefits Sycuan offers are health, dental, vision and life insurance, 401(k) retirement savings plans, with a company match, as well as free transportation to and from work via the Sycuan shuttle buses that run throughout the county.
Other job fairs currently scheduled are:
Oct. 9: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., South County Career Center, 1111 Bay Blvd., Suite E, Chula Vista. Sycuan job fairs will also be held at the same time at this location on Dec. 11 and Feb. 12, 2019;
Oct. 10: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Grossmont College Main Quad, 8800 Grossmont College Drive, El Cajon;
Oct. 18: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Southwestern College, SWC Student Union Area, 900 Otay Lakes Road, Chula Vista;
