The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival, a popular, free art show and fundraiser, is back for the eighth year on Oct. 7 and 8 in La Jolla Village. As always, it promises to be a weekend of fine art, delicious wines, craft beers, tasty food and live music.
More than 150 hand-picked artists will display their work in booths along Girard Avenue, representing a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, jewelry design, fine glass, ceramics, woodwork, mixed media and photography. Featured during the festival will be internationally recognized talent alongside up-and-coming artists – a little something to capture varying interests.
Nothing goes with gorgeous art quite like a local craft brew or a glass of wine from one of the 30 wineries or breweries on hand in the Wine & Beer Garden. That’s also where a lineup of musical acts and entertainment ranging from jazz to rock to bluegrass will be. And be sure to come to the festival with an appetite – there’s going to be a delectable lineup of food ranging from Greek snacks to crepes to Maine lobster.
Got young ones tagging along? They’ll have a blast in Geppetto’s Children’s Art Center + Lab with a selection of exciting attractions. Youngsters and the young at heart can show their creativity by painting a car, building models, face painting and more. There’s also interactive demos, like a video mob, 3D printing and the science and art of fermentation with George Thornton of The Homebrewer.
Each day of the festival will have a silent auction, as well. Bid on prizes including trips, spa outings, dinners at La Jolla’s finest restaurants, jewelry, gift certificates for local beauty salons on more. All proceeds raised from the auction will benefit underfunded programs such as art, music, science, physical education, technology and on-site medical care at La Jolla public elementary and middle schools.
