An East Coast-style deli and a Mediterranean grill might not seem like an obvious match, but at Vanoos Grillette in Pacific Beach it has been a winning combination since 2012. The family-owned business calls itself “the home of homemade food.” Everything on the menu, which includes traditional Mediterranean bites, hot sandwiches, fresh wraps and massive deli subs, is fresh and authentic – they even bring spices from Israel for the shawarma.
It’s difficult to miss Vanoos Grillette – just look for the bright purple, butterfly-adorned awning. If you’re eating in, start with baba ghanouj, tzatziki dip served with grilled pita or grape leaves. Entree combos, like the Chicken, Ground Beef and Lamb Shish Kabob Platter, come with a Greek salad, rice topped with tahini sauce and pita bread. The menu has plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options as well.
Vanoos Grillette also offers catering for a variety of events-get platters with a selection of sandwiches; trays of beef, chicken and lamb; or pre-made pita sandwiches. They’ll work with you to come with a custom menu depending on the party size and occasion. Customers can also place takeout and delivery orders online.
