There are numerous events and traditions associated with Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack (is your fascinator ready for the hat contest yet?), but the Opening Day After Party at L’Auberge Del Mar may be the most glamorous of all. For the ninth year, the luxurious hotel will welcome guests and racing fans following the racing season’s Opening Day on Wednesday, July 19.
From 5 p.m. until midnight, guests of the After Party can celebrate the season with live entertainment, culinary delights and of course, this year’s signature cocktail “Off to the Races,” which is made with bourbon whiskey, ginger beer, honey and Memphis Barbecue Bitters.
DJ Fishfonics and DJ Gabe Vega will return to L’Auberge Del Mar as headliners to keep the party going all night. Chef Nathan Lingle has come up with a mouth-watering menu for the night. Entrees include chicken verde carnitas, cavatelli with summer ragu, gemelli with wild mushroom cream and beef short rib. Guests can also enjoy seasonal salads and sinfully delicious desserts such as bourbon vanilla cheesecake and butter-rum blondies. Along with the “Off to the Races,” there will be plenty of craft beer, featured liquors and cash bars to keep thirsts quenched.
Tickets for the Opening Day After Party are $229 per person until July 18 and will cost $250 at the door until the event reaches capacity.
