More than 60 percent of Americans own at least one “Internet of Things” device, such as a smart TV, fitness tracker or connected car, according to a study from the Interactive Advertising Bureau, which surveyed more than 1,200 U.S. adults.
The study found that 65 percent of owners are receptive to ads on those devices, and most adults are willing to see ads if offered coupons, extra features and exclusive games.
The most popular connected devices owned include a smart TV or streaming device, at 47 percent, followed by wearable health trackers, at 24 percent, and home control devices such as connected thermostats, at 17 percent. Almost two-thirds of consumers are interested in buying a connected device, with more than one-third interested in purchasing a connected car or TV.
